    Dr. R. ANBURAJ currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Microbiology and Bioinformatics (Supported under the DBT-PG Teaching & DBT-STAR College Schemes) at National College (Autonomous) in Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, India.

    His academic journey includes the attainment of a doctoral degree in Marine Microbiology from Annamalai University in 2012 under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. K. Kathiresan, Ph.D., D.Sc., Honorary Professor, and UGC BSR-Faculty Fellow. Prior to his Ph.D., he completed both M.Phil. and M.Sc. in Marine Microbiology at the same University in 2009 and 2007, respectively. Dr. R. ANBURAJ laid the foundation for his academic pursuits with a B.Sc. in Microbiology, achieved in 2005 from Thanthai Han’s Roever College (Autonomous), and affiliated with Bharathidasan University.

Dr. R. ANBURAJ possesses an exemplary academic record, consistently achieving first-class marks throughout his educational journey. Additionally, he brings valuable professional experience, commencing his career as an Assistant Professor in 2012 and accumulating a rich background of 11 years in teaching and 15 years in research within the realms of Microbiology and Marine Microbiology. Over this tenure, Dr. ANBURAJ has demonstrated adept administrative capabilities, serving in various capacities such as Department Association In-charge (2014-2015), Head of the Department from 2015 to 2017, College Assistant Placement Officer (2016-2018), Nodal Officer- ELC (2017-2018), Coordinator of NACC and Certificate Course in 2019-2020, Coordinator of the Department Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Research & Development Cell in 2020-2021, and further, as Coordinator of the Institution's Innovation Council- MoEs and Chief Coordinator of the IPR Cell in 2021-2022. Coordinator of NACC and the Department Internal Quality Assurance Cell in 2022-2024, Department Association -Vice President in 2023-2024, Coordinator of National College Culture Collection Center (NCCCC) since 2023, and Board of Studies (BOS) in Microbiology and Biotechnology- Board Member since 2023.

Highlights of Research and Teaching Contribution:

  • Underwent German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Sponsored International Summer School on Studies and Research on Sustainability in Agriculture, Water, and Area Management at the Centre of Applied Plant Biotechnology, Leibniz University, Hannover, Germany in 2009.
  • Served as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in Research Projects sponsored by the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, and Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve Trust, Government of Tamil Nadu from 2007 to 2012.
  • Awarded a Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) by University Grants Commission (UGC) Government of India, New Delhi. 2012. Not Availed.
  • Awarded a Science Academies Faculty Summer Research Fellow by Indian Academy Sciences (IAS), Bangaluru. 2016. Not Availed.
  • Received Two research grants from TNSCST and VICAS Seed Money project in 2020 and 2021.
  • Published 10 Indian patents, 18 Original research papers in well-regarded National and International journals with more than 950 citation along 10 H index and 11 I-10 index, 10 Book chapters and 20 GenBank sequences were deposited.
  • Received recognition with 17 awards from Government of India and various Scientific organizations for outstanding Research findings and Teaching credential.
  • He also obtained nearly 43 online certificates course and 05 Diploma courses from Alison Ireland, the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, NPTEL etc.
